Learn how to create gorgeous art with soft pastels! In case you're wondering, soft pastels are compressed pigment sticks which deliver strokes of intense, beautiful color. This exciting medium can be blended with your fingers and various tools to create rich, luscious textural layers. Niki will start with the basics including explaining the four types of pastels and how the pigments differ with each variety. You'll learn how to apply or "smear" pastels on textured paper and blend colors achieving soft, romantic effects.
Each student will use their own set of pastels, tools, board, tape and pastel paper to practice strokes and then create one 9" x 12" painting. No previous experience is necessary and beginners are welcome!
