For those who love to sketch and draw, take your art to another level.  Join Instructor Dixon Fish as he shows you how to turn drawings into prints using a printmaking process that’s also a nifty science experiment.  First, cover your copper plate with a secret paint.  Next, get to work scratching your drawing through the paint to expose the copper.  Now the science steps in, dip your plate in a ferric chloride bath.  Don’t worry, it’s completely safe and non-toxic.  The solution dissolves copper, so all those lines are deepened into the copper.  The longer your plate stays in the bath the deeper the lines become.  After this step, you’ll remove the protective coating making the plate ready to ink.  Using Akua non-toxic inks, ink your plate, cover it with printmaking paper and run it through an etching press.  The best part of creating an etched copper plate is the many prints you can make without the plate wearing down.  So, let your imagination go crazy and experiment with different inking methods resulting in totally different prints.  Bring photos or sketches for inspiration and leave with prints ready for a frame or a competition.  For those who want to print an edition of prints, additional printmaking paper will be available for purchase during the workshop.  All skill levels are welcome.

Please note, there is an additional $15 (cash-only) supply fee for the copper plate due at the workshop.
