Join Instructor Ginna Brooks as she takes you around the globe to create exotic insect art while exploring cultures from three continents… all without leaving Fallbrook! Ginna’s thought of everything as you begin by making your own passport that will get stamped each time you embark on a new quest.
Travel deep into Africa as you learn about the diverse culture and create a beetle using authentic traditional African wax-print fabric in rich, vibrant colors, embellished with artisan wire, beads, felt, etc. The next week, venture high into the Andes Mountains in South America, discovering metal embossing techniques called repoussé, as you create a brass Andes Moth wall hanging adorned with hand-dyed fibers and tassel embellishments. Finally, voyage to exciting India and make a faux-ivory treasure box using polymer clay decorated with insect molds that you create! And Ginna will show you how to finish your box, so it looks like it was unearthed from an ancient temple. All supplies, materials & tools are included for this four-week adventure, so grab your friends and let’s travel the world!
Students to Bring: Bring a personal water bottle.
