Join us for this special workshop just in time for Autumn. Instructor Marsha Orr will teach you all about basketry – an ancient artform – as you create the “Market Basket” an Appalachian-style basket. Although ideal for farmer’s markets, this gorgeous basket has multiple uses including as a stunning addition to your home decor. You’ll work with reeds as Marsha shows you time-honored techniques including basic over-under weaving, creating an open weave base, inserting a beautiful Williamsburg handle, twining, creating and lashing a rim, and embellishing with colored reed and a braided handle. Embellishment color choices will be available. The basket measures 9.5”x 10.5” at the base with a 14” height at the top of the handle (it’s a roomy basket). All materials included to create one basket. Beginners are welcome!
