For everyone who has always dreamed of creating a sculpture, this intensive figurative sculpting class is perfect! Join Instructor Karen Williams Smith for an in-depth journey into the human form. By studying specific areas of the head individually, you will learn to understand the rules of anatomy. Karen will guide you through the process of how to observe muscle tone, bone structure, human characteristics, etc. Karen's classes are presented in the classic, realistic sculpting style, and you'll work with polymer clay to create life-size body parts (ear, nose, eyes & mouth). As a finale, you'll sculpt two complete miniature busts (approximately 5" tall) both male and female. All sculptures will be cured during class so your study models will be ready to take home. Written materials will be provided along with a comprehensive understanding of this art form so you can continue sculpting on your own. All tools and materials are included. Beginners and all expertise levels are welcome. This class is limited to 8 students for one-on-one assistance. There is a break mid-day, and you are welcome to bring a sack lunch to be enjoyed on our back deck. Note: White clothing is strongly encouraged to minimize fabric dust from settling on polymer clay.
