This course is perfect for those who have either never taken a ceramics course or those who want to hone their skills. You’ll learn construction techniques of hand-building and throwing. Demonstrations will be given weekly on the basics of ceramics including construction, trimming, decoration, firing, kilns, and basic glazing techniques. Project goals include planter, a set of mugs/tumblers and wheel-thrown bowls; but you won’t be limited to just these projects and may bring ideas to explore. To finish up, on the last class, all students will participate in a Raku firing of one of their pieces. Intermediate and Advanced students are also welcome and may work independently.
*Note: First bag of clay will be included in your Course Fee. After that, clay can be purchased at the school for $20 per 25 lbs. Clay can only be bought during class from the Instructor.
