This course is a good introduction to calligraphy for beginners and non-calligraphers.  And for those more experienced, you will learn new techniques. Students will learn to become proficient with the tools.  We will cover at least 5 wonderful calligraphic alphabets and the skills to create endless variations.  Included in this course will be the Neuland and Cuneiform alphabets and an alphabet invention of my own called Carrioka.  These are easily learned and will give the students experience in how to handle the calligraphy pen which creates the thick and thin strokes that make beautiful writing.  We will use the skills we learn to create some fun and useful projects.

Materials to bring:

Pilot Parallel Pen – green lid (1/8”)

Grid paper pad – I recommend the Rhodia grid pad, but any gridded paper (8 x 8 squares to the inch) is fine.  Can be purchased through either Paper & Ink Arts or John Neal.
