This second class by Patty allows further exploration into creating pattern bars and discovering how to use "reactive colors" to make special effects. Pattern bars are made by stacking different glass pieces into a mold that make amazing and intricate patterns when sliced and put on their side. For those of you who took pattern bars in November you will learn to use a wet saw to cut the ones you made to create a beautiful piece. After completing their project they will create their pattern bar stack. These will be fired in a second kiln. The pattern bars each student makes will be theirs to take home or use in the next class in this series.
Patty Gray developed her own line of molds so these will not require traditional dams. Patty Gray Molds are provided for the class and will be available for purchase if you want to take one home.
All projects will be fired in our kilns and available for pick-up after Friday in the following week at the Fallbrook School of the Arts.
