El Dia De Los Muertos Mural Creation with Daniel Martinez Meets Saturday October 16th 930am-4pm Ages 11 to 17 yrs

Celebrate a Mexican Tradition known as El Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) that honors our departed loved ones at the Fallbrook School of the Arts. Muralist Daniel Martinez will give a short lecture about the history and symbolism used in this traditional observance. He will also explain how the imagery can be incorporated into the mural. He will also guide everyone through this mural production project and give demonstrations on painting, and creating surface treatments such as faux finishes in acrylic. The mural will incorporate low relief of mixed media materials, such as grave markers, skulls and crosses will be painted and applied on panel frames. The mural will depict a cemetery with the color and serenity that one would find if you were visit Mexico during the celebration on Nov 1 and 2nd.
The program begins early Saturday October 16, at 9:30 so participants should expect to be on time. The instructor will provide the layout, and reference materials, books, artifacts. Youths are encourage to bring a photos or xerox images of someone they wish to remember or give tribute to, a story, a memento, words, lyrics, can be incorporated within areas of the design to reflect the person they are honoring. For any student whom wishes to learn about mural production and leave a memory to a departed loved one, and learn about a Mexican Tradition celebrated throughout the State of California and Southwest of the United States this will be a great learning experience. |
