For students who’ve never taken a ceramics course, or maybe let their ceramics skills lapse, this is the perfect class for you! You’ll learn construction techniques of hand-building and throwing. Demonstrations will be given weekly on the basics of ceramics including construction, trimming, decoration, firing, kilns, and basic glazing techniques. Project goals include a set of mugs/tumblers, bowls spice boxes (salt & pepper), but you won’t be limited to just these projects and may bring additional ideas for the workshop to explore. Intermediate and Advanced students are also welcome to attend this class and can work independently. To finish up, on the last class, all students will participate in a Raku firing of one of their pieces.
*Note: First bag of clay will be included in your Course Fee. After that, clay can be purchased at the school for $20 per 25 lbs. Clay can only be bought during class from the Instructor.
